Ever wonder who invented the carport? While the word “carport” originates from the French term porte-cochère, meaning covered portal, a renowned U.S. architect known for his uncluttered, prairie-style home designs first introduced the term to the American vernacular in the 1930s.
Architect Frank Lloyd Wright used a carport, in place of a more expensive garage, when he built the first mid-century modern home in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1936. Wright called his designs Usonian — a combination of United States and North America — as he set out to construct affordable, well-designed houses for middle class families following the Great Depression.
The modern carport of today follows Wright’s clean style and simple idea that vehicles and other equipment stored outside don’t always require an elaborate garage or enclosed storage barn to protect against the elements. Well-constructed steel carports and open metal buildings can do the same job at a much more affordable price.
Ingenious, right? We think so.
Carport Quality, Craftsmanship and Customer Service Matter
At All-American Buildings & Carports, we rely on the ingenuity of past builders and look to the possibilities of the future by choosing to only work with manufacturers and installers we’ve thoroughly vetted to ensure high quality, true craftsmanship and the best customer service.
When you decide to build a new house, you search for a builder with a great reputation for craftsmanship, right? Why should shopping for a steel carport or metal building be any different? Your structure must be sturdy enough to withstand the harshest weather elements, from snow and ice to blasting heat and rain, and you want an aesthetically pleasing, well-designed building that lasts for years to come.
At All-American, we believe in honor, integrity and a strong work ethic, and all of our manufacturers and installers demonstrate all three traits when constructing our steel carports, metal buildings, RV parking bays, agriculture buildings, and more. With 20 years of experience working in the steel carports industry, All-American holds its manufacturing partners to the highest standards in the industry.
Carport Installers Work Hard to Meet Customer Demand
As an online carport dealer, All-American doesn’t schedule your carport installation or select the specific craftsmen who will build it, but we do run a tight ship when it comes to helping customers navigate the process by knowing which U.S. manufacturers and installers you can trust to deliver the best metal building products on the market.
We’ve learned over the years that the labor force of carport craftsmen is comprised of, almost without exception, a Hispanic workforce. These hard-working, devoted men and women start early in the morning and work until late in the evening to meet our customers’ demands. Some weeks, these specialized crews travel up to 1,200 miles a week to get the job done, and done right. Many work as a helper or apprentice in the steel building industry for a number of years, before starting their own companies or becoming a lead contractor in the carport industry.
The crews who craft, construct and install All-American’s metal buildings take great pride in their work, and it shows. Call All-American today at 833-931-0590 to experience the difference our approach makes.
